The Art of Making Climate Science Click with Qiyun Woo
This episode features a conversation with science communicator and illustrator, Qiyun Woo. It was recorded in June 2026.
Based in Singapore, Qiyun’s work bridges science, art, and advocacy, bringing fresh perspectives on how to communicate climate change, particularly in Southeast Asia.
Perhaps best known for her work with The Weird and Wild, Qiyun’s comics, content, and design resources help educate and empower audiences on all things climate.
Qiyun was named one of this year’s National Geographic 33, has been recognised by Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia, and was included in the BBC's list of the 100 Most Inspiring and Influential Women of 2023.
Amongst other things, Qiyun and I discussed how she’s made simplified science content go viral, the special sauce that fictional messengers can bring to the table when it comes to connecting with audiences, and how cuteness can play a role in bringing climate communication to the masses.
